Body scan process
Body scan process is a process that starts with preparation. Thus preparation is the first step towards body scanning. The preparation of body scan normally involves not taking the food for about two to three hours prior to the body scanning exercise. Body scanning requires that anyone who is going to take part in the process should not eat for about three to four hours before the actual process. This is to enhance the results that are achieved. Preparation process also requires that one wears loose clothes. Tight clothes are discouraged in the exercise as they may not allow better results in the end. Loose clothes enable one the machine to see through to the human body. If one does not have these clothes, one may be given where he or she s doing body scan.
After preparation is over, one is supposed to lie flat. Although this is not always the case, it is preferred so as t enhance the accuracy of the results. Lying flat enables the machine to examine the whole body without any many problems. The machine’s work and the screener is made easy. Lying flat too allows multiple images to be taken from one’s body which will later be assessed by the doctor to give results.
After lying flat on the scanner table, the screener may come and take multiple images of the patient. The process is normally painless although it uses radiology technology. It is the process that takes merely five to ten minutes. During this time, the patient is to lie down and be as calm as possible. There should no alarm as the process is harmless and painless. Furthermore ten minutes are not so many.
After the images are taken, the process is almost over. The patient may now rise and wait for the results. Sometimes the results may take sometime. This is especially in cases where the process gives conflicting results. The doctor though examines the images gives and draws inferences. Drawing of inferences is a technical thing that is left to doctors to give their own analysis depending on their professionalism. After drawing of conclusions, the doctor then may approach the patient to give results and recommendations.
It is important to note though that all along the patient should not change into his or her usual clothes. This is because the process for scanning may be repeated if the results are not satisfactory. One is supposed to remain put with the normal clothes as he or she may be required to repeat the process. The process though is only repeated when the results are not consistent.
After presentation of the results and recommendations, bodyscan process is over. The important thing though is for one to take into much consideration what he or she has been recommended by the doctor. Body scan is just the beginning. It is not an end by itself. It is only a means to an end. The patient therefore should make an important step is he or she has any healthy complications. If there are no healthy complications, the patient should follow the doctor’s recommendations all the same.
